History of Aromatherapy: From the ancient time of the Egyptians to the modern age, the hidden powers of essential oils have been used for health, beauty and well being. Often called the soul of the plant, essential oils are not harmful or toxic when used properly. How Aromatherapy Works: Essential Oils work with the body in two basic ways; they have a very small molecular structure which allows them to penetrate skin and be absorbed into the blood stream and lymph system. They have an effect on the body's organs, immune, hormonal and nervous systems. The second way Essential Oils work with the body is through sense of smell. The sense of smell is the only sense that is connected directly to the brain. There, in the middle of the brain, is a ring of interconnected structures and neurochemicals which govern the emotion and memory systems of the body. Essential Oils work through the brain and into the body to provide balance and harmony, allowing the body to heal itself. Essential Oils should not generally be put directly on the skin. They should be dilluted with a base oil or lotion of some kind. They can also be used in the bath when combined with salts or herbs.

Learn how to detox yourself!Sometimes we just know when we have overdone it. Our mind is slower, energy levels are low and we just feel off. It is probably time for a detox. DO NOT DETOX WHEN PREGNANT, BREASTFEEDING, MENSTRUATING OR HAVE A COLD OR INFECTION. IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL PROBLEMS, CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. WEEKEND DETOX: Friday: Eat a light diet during the day to prepare for the detox. No tea, coffee, heavy proteins or fat. Drink 2 pints of un-chilled water. Eat a light supper (salad) Friday nite. Before going to bed, brush your skin-make sure to dry brush before a bath, This will help stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage the detox process. Brush your feet, toes, soles, then the front and back of your legs, using long smooth strokes. Always brush upwards. Brush hands and arms towards the armpits. Brush across your shoulders and down the chest toward the heart. Brush the neck with downward strokes. When brushing the abdomen and stomach area, use a clockwise motion. Now take a bath with the Detox set. Some side effects of a detox are: headache, sweat, fatigue, unusual emotions, dry mouth. Saturday: Follow a strict det by eating or drinking the juice of grapes, apples or carrots. Eat small amounts through the day, chewing thoroughly and sip juice slowly. Start the day with a cup of hot water with lemon juice. Get some fresh air. Then take a few moments to do some deep breathing. Make sure you drink at least 2 pints of water. Before turning in do another dry skin brushing and soak in a warm bath with Lavender/Chamomile. Light a soothing candle such as Lavender or Rosemary. Relax for about 20 minutes. Drink a cup of chamomile hot tea. Sunday: Start the day with the detox deep breathing. Try meditating mid-morning, trying to focus on you...nothing else. Eat your evening meal early. Something simple like steamed vegetables and/or a bowl of boiled brown rice. Make sure you drink at least 2 pints of water. Dry brush your skin and soak in mineral salts and/or Epsom salts for 20 minutes. Light a soothing candle such as Lavender or Rosemary. Once this process is complete, your body should have eliminated a lot of the toxins and you should feel much fresher and relaxed.
